Urban Circle Newport is a fully constituted Charity based within Newport City Centre. We are one of the biggest youth initiatives outside of Council led Projects in South Wales.

Urban Circle first started life as Urban Circle Productions based in Pillgwenlly 15 years ago and we have had huge success in uniting the young people of Newport across many cultures, backgrounds and interests and allowed for endless possibilities to impact and positively affect lives.

Our Organisation aims to help build, promote, and sustain constructive community relationships and individual capability for young people living in the different areas of Newport. Also, helping build relations between these young people in different communities, across a variety of platforms from performing arts to creative media (music, dance, and multimedia).

All the Urban Circle Projects are rapidly becoming a beacon of hope for hundreds of young people. We provide them with an opportunity to develop and showcase their talents for the mutual benefit of local communities, whilst having fun in a creative and innovative environment.

It also directly impacts on reducing social exclusion, anti-social behaviour and increasing civic pride all through the application of youth work principles.

At Urban Circle Newport, there is something for everyone; whatever their ability and level.

  ‘Having Dwarfism, one thing that I’ve found the most challenging growing up, is truly being able to communicate or explain what it is like to live with the condition. Being born with ‘Achondroplasia’- has made me have to think about things in ways no one around me needed to. It’s highlighted things which to others, get no second thought, and its created challenges in things most do with such ease. Whilst I do not feel bitter towards my condition- I’ve created ‘Short Perspectives’ to louden the voices on the challenges that sit within it, so that others can improve in their awareness and understanding. Short Perspectives Launch Night

  20th October 2022 saw the soft launch of Short Perspectives. Held at the Riverfront Theatre in Partnership with Urban Circle Newport.  Guests were welcomed to a short film screening and the launch of the Life Being Little gallery which is currently on display at the Riverfront Theatre for the duration of October.  More visuals and information coming soon.

Meet the writer: Danielle Webb

  Hello!  I’m Danielle Webb, and I'm pretty much your typical 23-year-old.... I work, socialise and everything in-between!  The only difference being, I do it all at 3f11 tall.   I was born with a condition called Achondroplasia, a hereditary condition in which the growth of long bones by ossification of cartilage is restricted, resulting in very short limbs and sometimes a face which is small in relation to the skull. So, in other words- I'm short! Achondroplasia is the most common form of dwarfism and is known as short limb dwarfism. Meaning my torso- is very similar to that of yours! But my limbs are short- this means that at 23 years old, I stand at the same height as your average six-year-old. Whilst there are many additional health conditions and possible occurring issues caused by having Achondroplasia- The key thing is.
